From Top To Bottom

(published 2/17/23)

GM Darnell Murphy, of Knock On Wood, has had quite the journey in the Sunday Service fantasy football league and has been a prime example of how an initial success can quickly turn into a disaster. Despite winning the 2021 season, his poor decision-making to trade away multiple picks in exchange for a championship team has left his team in shambles.

The 2022 season was an unmitigated disaster for Knock On Wood, with a pathetic 3-11 record and an average of 82.69 points per game. It's a damning indictment of Murphy's competency as a general manager. His team's fate was doomed from the beginning, given that he had no first-round pick in the 2022 season and only four picks in the first eight rounds.

Despite his team's dire situation, Murphy's series of trades during the season only worsened the situation. Instead of focusing on rebuilding the team, he shifted his focus on winning in the upcoming 2023 season, a risky move given the unpredictable nature of fantasy football.

Knock On Wood's only saving grace is their acquisition of ten picks in the first five rounds alone, setting up the team for a potentially strong draft. However, his previous mistakes in decision-making cast a shadow over the upcoming season. He must prove that he has learned from his past errors and can make better choices moving forward.

Murphy's decision-making skills as a general manager are questionable at best, with his past actions having cost Knock On Wood dearly. The upcoming season will be a make or break moment for him and his team. He must prove that he can make better choices and rebuild Knock On Wood into a competitive team once again. Otherwise, he risks sinking the team further into the abyss of irrelevance, and his position as general manager may be called into question.

Pride Cometh Before The Fall

The Sunday Service fantasy football league was full of excitement this past season, especially with the impressive start of Gronky Kong led by the confident General Manager and Head Coach Ramon Topete. After a 3-0 start to the season, Topete's cocky attitude and trash talk began to spark some animosity among the other coaches and managers, especially with Benjamin Dolly of the Alt-Left All Stars.

On October 25th, 2022 Coach Dolly threw down the challenge for the league's first ever 'Naming Rights Match' in week 11, with the loser being forced to abandon their team name forever. The tension leading up to the match were palpable with Gronky Kong entering the game on a seven game losing streak with several players injured. Meanwhile Alt-Left had beefed up it's roster with a series of astute trades.

The match was a test of both coaches' skills and strategies, and it was Alt-Left All Stars who emerged victorious, handing Gronky Kong their eighth consecutive loss, the last game Gronky Kong would ever play. As a result, Topete was forced to rename his team "Chester Sucked Anyway," a reference to his late favorite artist Chester Bennington of Linkin Park who had committed suicide years prior. Coach Dolly was relentless.

The brutal tactics of Coach Dolly and the overconfidence of Coach Topete ultimately led to the downfall of Gronky Kong. The team's death now serves as a reminder of the cutthroat nature of the Sunday Service fantasy football league, where one misstep can mean the end of a team's reign. With the league always full of surprises and drama, fans are eager to see what the future holds for the former Gronky Kong.

The end of the Gronky Kong name marks a new era for Coach Topete and has sparked excitement among his fans. Will 2023 see him rise to the top and claim the championship title? Will Coach Topete bounce back and reclaim his spot as one of the league's top coaches? Only time will tell, but one thing is for sure, the Sunday Service fantasy football league will continue to be a thrilling and unpredictable competition.

Alan Kent Takes Home His Second Championship

(published Jan. 13th, 2023)

Last night, the Sunday Service's championship game came down to a simulated matchup between the Bills and Bengals with the fate of the league hanging in the balance. The highly-anticipated match-up did not disappoint as both teams brought their A-game and gave fans an exciting game to remember. Entering the game HBK, led by general manager Alan Kent, lead with by 65.16pts with Allen The Family, led by general manager Aaron Swenson, needing his four players to close the gap.

The game was a nail-biter from start to finish, with both NFL teams trading leads throughout the match. However, it was through solid defense and efficient offense that ultimately secured a victory for the Bills and a victory for HBK. The final score 101.66 to 97.8

The final minutes of the game were particularly thrilling as Allen The Family, led by general manager Aaron Swenson, made a last-ditch effort to come back and win the game. The team's three star players, Josh Allen, Ja'Marr Chase, and Tyler Bass, made some incredible plays and had the crowd on their feet. Unfortunately, Allen's two fumbles late in the game proved to be costly for Allen The Family and sealed the win for HBK.

While the loss was tough for Allen The Family, they can hold their heads high knowing they gave it their all and put up a valiant effort. On the other hand, the HBK team and their fans are celebrating a well-deserved victory and the championship trophy that comes with it.

Overall, it was a fantastic game and a great way to end the season. Congratulations to the HBK team and their fans, and thank you to both teams for giving us such an exciting match-up to watch.

SIM For The Win

(published Jan. 10th, 2023)

The 2022 Fantasy Football Season came down to the Buffalo Bills and Cincinnati Bengals matchup on Monday night. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, the game has been cancelled leaving the fantasy football players who were counting on those teams' players to gain points, in the lurch.

After much talk and outcry from league owners, commissioner Alan Kent has decided to have the game recreated in Madden NFL, a popular football video game, in order to see what could have happened, as well as fulfill everyone's fantasy football expectations.

Aaron Swenson, GM of Allen The Family is one such fantasy football player who is in need of a big performance from a few key players from the Bills and Bengals. Specifically, they need 65.16 points from a combination of Bills quarter back Josh Allen, Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase, Bills kicker Tyler Bass and the Bills defense.

To understand if this victory is even possible for him let's examine the players:

While this Madden simulation is just a way for fans to imagine what the matchup between these two teams would have been like, it also has serious implications for the Sunday Service League. The simulated outcome will set the precedence if another unforeseen event was to occur and players need to gain points from cancelled games.

In conclusion, the moves by commissioner Alan Kent add to an already impressive resume of quick witted adjustments and valuing the leagues entertainment and fairness above lack-luster competition. Regardless there will be but one winner at the end of the scheduled game for Thursday night (January 12th, 2023 9:15pm EST/6:15 PST)

Two Champs, One Trophy

(updated @10:46am  Jan. 10th, 2023)

UPDATED 1/10/23: Newly discussed implications have moved Commissioner Alan Kent to have the game simulated and the scores added to determine who our SOLE fantasy winner is.

The decision to have the championship match end in a tie and for both teams to share the championship title has been met with a lot of controversy. Some argue that this is a fair and just solution, while others believe that there must be a clear winner and loser in any competition.

On one hand, those who support the decision to end the championship match in a tie argue that it recognizes the hard work and effort of both teams. It acknowledges that both teams were equally skilled and deserving of the championship title. This solution also avoids any negative feelings of defeat for one team, and instead celebrates the achievements of both teams. One manager in favor of the decision said, "Given the situation I think it's a good compromise and most fair to everyone. Hard to do anything about a Deus Ex Machina like that."

However, those who are against the decision to end the championship match in a tie argue that it goes against the very nature of competition. The purpose of any competition is to determine a clear winner, and a tie does not achieve this. It also takes away from the excitement and drama of a championship match, as there is no clear winner to celebrate or loser to commiserate with.

We asked several managers around the league about the decision and what this means for the future. "I think it's the safe decision in the moment that will lead to regret in the future. Shared title is like no title", said a founding manager that wished to remain anonymous. Some were more blunt, "Honestly I think it's tough cookies for Aaron. In my opinion Alan won, people lose their players and while it's a different scenario it should be treated as the same outcome."

Ultimately, the decision to end the championship match in a tie rests with the commissioner, who also happens to be one of the two championship teams. This creates an interesting problem that is decided solely on his whim. Managers will have to examine their personal beliefs about competition and the value of determining a clear winner. However, it is important to consider the perspective of both sides and to understand the reasoning behind each viewpoint. All in all GM Dolly says it best, "I hope they're ready to share my foot up their asses next season."

Community In The Face Of Crisis

(published Jan. 5th, 2023)

After the events of Monday night's Bills vs Bengals game fantasy football commissioner Alan Kent has decided to split the money between the remaining teams in the league. This decision has been met with mixed reactions from the members of the league. Some feel that it is a fair way to distribute the remaining prize money, while others believe that the team who made it to the championship game should receive the majority of the prize.

Alan explained that the decision was made to ensure that all teams in the league are fairly compensated for their participation in the season. He also mentioned that the championship team had already received a substantial amount of money as a result of their success throughout the season.

Despite the controversy, the league has agreed to move forward with the decision and distribute the prize money according to Alan's plan. The commissioner hopes that this will encourage all teams to continue participating in the league and ensure a fair and enjoyable experience for all members.

One Trade To Rule Jamaal

During the 2022, Benjamin Dolly, a die-hard fantasy football player and Chicago Bears fan, made a trade that was met with ridicule from his league mates. Dolly traded away a highly-touted wide receiver in exchange for Jamaal Williams, a relatively unknown running back who had seen limited action in his early seasons with the Lions.

At the time, Williams was sandwiched between D’Andre Swift and Justin Jackson with many people viewing the trade as a huge mistake. However, Dolly saw something in Williams that others didn't, and he was confident that the young running back would eventually get an opportunity to shine.

As it turned out, Dolly's faith in Williams was well-placed. Midway through the 2022 season, Swift went down with an injury, and Williams was thrust into the starting role. He took full advantage of the opportunity scoring six touchdowns during a four game span.

The trade ended up being a major win for Dolly, as Williams became a crucial part of his fantasy team down the stretch. And while he was initially met with criticism and skepticism, Dolly's bold move ended up paying off in a big way.

In the end, the trade that was once ridiculed ended up being a savvy move that helped Dolly make a deep playoff run in his fantasy league. And for Williams, the trade was a chance to finally showcase his skills and prove that he was a legitimate starting running back in the NFL
